News.zing.vn – Schott AG leaders: “We will enhance consumer protection”
The representative of Schott AG – the group that owns the Schott Ceran glass brand – remains optimistic about the development potential in the Vietnamese market despite being affected by counterfeit and imitation products.
Mr. Martin Endres, Business Director of Ceran for the Asia region of Schott Group, shared his thoughts on this issue.
– What do you think about the potential of the kitchen market using ceramic glass in Vietnam?
– We see great potential in the new generation kitchen market in Vietnam. We understand that family meals are an indispensable part of Vietnamese family culture. This is wonderful, as it helps to connect members and create unforgettable memories.
In addition, economic development and rising incomes mean that consumers are more willing to spend on high-quality products. Therefore, new generation cooking appliances such as induction hobs and infrared cookers are becoming increasingly popular due to their safety, convenience, and aesthetics compared to traditional gas and charcoal stoves.
Mr. Martin Endres is optimistic about the development potential in Vietnam.
– Can you share more about the birth of Schott Ceran and why it is the top choice for induction and infrared stove brands?
– Fifty years ago, ceramic glass was used in space exploration. Later, Schott Group successfully developed the Schott Ceran product line – ceramic glass used for cooking, and began production in 1971. Since then, more than 180 million of this glass have been consumed worldwide.
The advantage of Schott Ceran glass is its thermal shock resistance of up to 700 degrees Celsius. The glass is only 4 mm thick and conducts heat directly to the cooking pot, shortening cooking time and saving electricity. Additionally, the ultra-smooth surface of this glass makes it easy to clean. This is why Schott Ceran glass still looks brand new after many years of use. Unfortunately, due to its popularity, this product is counterfeited and sold at lower prices in the Vietnamese market.
Glass with high durability and aesthetics.
– How do counterfeit products affect consumers?
– Not only do they have poor quality, but counterfeit products also pose many risks to users. Due to poor production processes and low-quality materials, counterfeit Schott Ceran glass has relatively low heat resistance, which is a crucial criterion for modern cooking appliances.
Counterfeit products often deteriorate quickly due to weak mechanical durability and low acid resistance, leading to poor performance and significantly shorter product lifespan. Moreover, these products are widely sold in the market with sophisticated counterfeiting techniques that are difficult to detect with the naked eye.
– What has Schott AG done to limit counterfeiting?
– We always work closely with authorities to combat counterfeit products. Recently, we organized a workshop to assist Vietnamese customs officials in distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit products. In 2019, the police and market management also conducted inspections, confiscating and destroying a large quantity of counterfeit Schott Ceran products.
Currently, Schott Ceran is a registered and protected brand in Vietnam. Our legal team also works hard to protect the Schott Ceran brand against violations or misuse. We believe that these measures will help reduce the prevalence of counterfeit products in the near future.
Consumers should buy from reputable dealers.
– Do you have any advice for Vietnamese consumers wishing to purchase genuine Schott Ceran glass products?
– You should carefully research and buy products using genuine Schott Ceran glass from reputable stores and dealers. The cooking appliances using this glass in Vietnam include Chefs, Rinnai, Munchen, Lorca, Latino, Kocher, Tomate, etc., sold in major supermarket chains such as Nguyễn Kim, Media Mart, Bếp365, and Bếp Vũ Sơn.
– In order to realize the goal of enhancing the kitchen experience for every family, we will continue to work closely with Vietnamese partners to develop high-quality ceramic glass products that meet the needs and habits of consumers. Along with supporting partners to prevent counterfeit products, we are determined to protect Vietnamese consumers, who may inadvertently purchase counterfeit products of low quality. This will be a top priority for Schott AG, with the hope that more and more Vietnamese cooks will enjoy the joy of cooking with Schott Ceran glass. A clear testament to this perfect combination is the high-end domestic home appliance brands; among them, Köcher is proud to be the pioneer in Vietnam bringing German technology into induction cooking products, promising to be a solid bridge delivering genuine, safe, and durable glass products directly to customers.
