What do you know about power transistors?
Power transistors, also known as transistors or tranzistors.
Power transistors are important components of many devices such as amplifiers or induction cookers. This is a semiconductor device that can integrate up to a billion transistors on a small area. It is also the part that determines the power of the device.
After a period of use, these components may fail and need to be checked and replaced. Some causes of failure include high temperature, humidity, increased power supply voltage, or poor-quality components. So, do you know how to check the power transistor?
Below are extremely simple steps to check the power transistor using a digital multimeter to determine whether the power transistor is alive or dead. Let’s do it together right now.
Check the power transistor with a multimeter
Step 1: Set the multimeter to the ohm function.
Step 2: Connect the positive lead from the digital multimeter to the B (BASE) terminal of the power transistor, and the E (EMITTER) terminal to the negative lead.
If the transistor is functioning well, the multimeter will display voltage readings between 0.45V and 0.9V. If the multimeter screen does not show the needle moving, the power transistor may have been overloaded.
If the power transistor is still alive, the multimeter will display voltage readings between 0.45V and 0.9V. If the multimeter screen does not show the needle moving, it may have died.
In case the power transistor is still functioning well
If the power transistor is shorted BE or shorted CE
This short circuit phenomenon is the core reason why the control system issues a protection command and displays error e1 induction cooker on the LED screen to prevent overload current from destroying the entire mainboard.
You can also use voltage drop to check the power transistor and determine whether it is alive or dead for timely replacement and repair. This proactive measurement helps users quickly determine if the induction cooker is malfunctioning due to aging components or fluctuating power supply, thereby providing the most optimal repair solution.
In addition to understanding the internal component structure, consumers should also pay attention to the total power of the induction cooker to design a compatible power cable system and circuit breaker.
