Induction hob with H shape: What are the causes and how to handle it?

The induction cooktop displaying the letter h (or H) is a safety feature indicating residual heat (Hot/Heat) of the induction cooktop. This is a common error code found in a few imported induction cooktops today. In this article, Kocher would like to share the causes and simple ways to fix the induction cooktop displaying the letter H right at home to help you handle it quickly.

Why does the induction cooktop display the letter h? Causes and solutions

The induction cooktop reports error h (Hot/Heat) to signal that the glass surface is hot (above 60°C – 65°C) to prevent users from touching it and getting burned. This is not an error but a safety feature. The cause may be that you have cooked at too high a temperature for a long time, or the cooling fan of the induction cooktop is not functioning at full capacity to cool the cooktop. This error can occur in induction cooktops, electric cooktops, and infrared cooktops.
Unlike the phenomenon of error e0 of the induction cooktop, which is a warning code indicating that the system cannot identify the appropriate cooking utensil on the surface, the small letter “h” or the capital “H” is simply a technical signal displaying the status of excess heat on the glass surface.
To turn off the induction cooktop displaying the letter h, you can quickly resolve it by temporarily stopping to let that cooking zone cool down; after about 5 – 10 minutes, when the cooktop cools down, the letter h will also disappear. When the system is indicating high temperature like this, if the user accidentally places an empty pot on the cooktop for a long time, the device will immediately report error e2 of the induction cooktop to prevent the risk of localized fire or explosion.
**Note: Absolutely do not cut off the power suddenly right after turning off the cooktop to allow the cooling fan to operate, helping to protect the components
The induction cooktop reporting error H may also be due to issues occurring within the control circuit or sensors. Errors from H01, H02, H03,… Below are the details of the errors displayed as letter H on the induction cooktop.

Common induction cooktop error H

Among manufacturers, a few Panasonic induction cooktops are the most likely to encounter the error displaying the letter H. If you are using this product and the induction cooktop frequently displays the letter H, check the symptoms immediately to accurately determine the causes and find the best solutions below!

Induction cooktop displaying error H commonly found in Panasonic products

Induction cooktop displaying error H Symptoms & Causes Solutions
H01 All buttons do not work when the main power switch is turned on due to a broken connection wire between the cooktops, or the A circuit board, thermal resistor A is damaged.

Check and replace the circuit board
H02 The control panel is not functioning due to the thermistor being disconnected. Replace the sensor for IGBT
H03 Thermistor A and IGBT thermistor are both disconnected, unable to check and control the temperature of the induction cooking zone. Check the electronic circuit of the induction cooktop, repair or replace damaged components
H04 Detected that the frying mode of the cooktop has no water, the cooktop automatically pauses. Add water while cooking and reset the frying mode for safe cooking
H05 Detected disconnection due to thermistor malfunction. Check and replace the thermistor
H06 Heating element of the cooking zone is hot, detected abnormal temperature Reduce the temperature of the cooking zone or pause the cooking zone to let the cooktop cool down
H07 Thermistor D is disconnected Check and replace thermistor D
From H11 to H20 Power supply error Recheck the power consumption of the cooktop and the power source
H21/22/23 Power supply issues causing the on/off button to be unresponsive. Check the connection wires of circuit boards A and B, need to replace circuit board A of the induction cooktop displaying the letter H.
H24 Abnormally high cooking zone temperature due to sudden heat increase Readjust the power of the cooktop, reduce heat or pause to let the cooktop cool down
H53 Error of the induction cooktop’s cooling fan not operating stably, not cooling the cooktop quickly Check the operation of the fan, replace with a new fan if necessary to ensure the cooling capability of the cooktop
H56 Temperature sensor error Need to check the temperature sensor of the induction cooktop, immediately replace with a new temperature sensor if the old one is broken or damaged
When the induction cooktop displays the letter H from H01, H02,… you should not attempt to disassemble or repair the induction cooktop yourself. The control panel and control circuit of the induction cooktop are quite complex and cannot be handled on your own if you do not have professional experience. You should seek out authorized warranty centers or professional repair facilities for induction cooktops displaying error H to accurately and quickly resolve the issue.

For hardware-related technical errors concerning the sensor system or cooling fan within the circuit, the device may issue serious warnings such as error e1 of the induction cooktop before switching to display the series of letter H codes mentioned above.

Above is a summary of the causes and quick fixes for all letter h errors on the induction cooktop. If it is just a basic error, you only need to wait 10 – 15 minutes for the cooktop to cool down and the letter h to disappear. If it is letter h errors accompanied by numbers, you should refer to the corresponding solutions.
