Discover the most common defrosting methods today?
1: Defrost food gradually in the refrigerator’s cool compartment
In the past, defrosting food such as (meat, shrimp, fish, breast milk…) gradually in the refrigerator’s cool compartment was widely applied by many housewives. However, it is quite time-consuming, as you have to move the food from the freezer to the cool compartment for at least one night before it can be processed.
2: Defrost food with cold water
Many housewives still have the habit of using hot water to defrost food quickly. However, many do not know the internal harm it can cause. When food is in a cold environment and suddenly placed in hot water, it can easily lead to rapid bacterial growth, creating a carcinogenic substance called Propanal. Not only that, but the flavor and protein of the food will also be lost.
If you soak food in cold water, it takes about 30 minutes (depending on the type) for the food to soften before you can process it. However, you must frequently change the water, as frozen food will lower the water temperature; if you do not change it, the defrosting process will take much longer.
3: Defrost food using a microwave
Defrosting with a microwave is quite fast, which is why many housewives often apply it. However, many do not know that defrosting food in a microwave poses a risk of E. coli bacteria (Professor Costas Stathopoulos from Abertay University Dundee) has researched and pointed out the risk of bacteria thriving when defrosting meat that has been frozen and then placed in the microwave.
Not only that, but using a microwave to defrost food can cause part of the food to cook. This way, the food will lose its freshness and nutritional value.
4: Defrosting method using Kocher DIB4-888 induction cooker
In addition to the traditional defrosting methods mentioned above, consumers now have a new, safer, and more convenient option for health with the latest advanced technology from Germany, which is defrosting using an induction cooker.
This is a safe defrosting method that saves time and, importantly, does not lose the nutrients and freshness of the food because it is developed based on the principle of natural defrosting.
Kocher DIB4-888 is a product resulting from a strategic partnership between Kocher and EGO Technology Group – Federal Republic of Germany, and it is also the first product in Vietnam to apply the latest technology with integrated defrosting features.
The defrosting feature of Kocher DIB4-888 induction cooker has been researched by 300 German engineers over 5 years to invent this new technology.
Detailed guide on the defrosting method using Kocher DIB4-888 induction cooker?
1: Defrosting meat:
How to do it:
Step 1: Take the meat out of the freezer. Then place it in a pot with water.
Step 2: Turn on the cooker and select the defrost mode, setting the timer for about 10 minutes. When the timer goes off, the cooker will automatically turn off, and your piece of meat will be defrosted.
Note: Depending on the weight of the piece of meat, you can set the timer for different durations.
2: Defrosting breast milk:
How to do it:
Step 1: Prepare a bag of frozen breast milk. Then place it in a pot with water.
Step 2: Turn on the cooker and select the defrost mode. Then, you can set the timer for about 5 minutes, and the bag of milk will be completely defrosted. At this point, you can turn off the cooker.
Note: Warming the milk is to help it reach a temperature similar to when the baby breastfeeds directly, and it does not serve to sterilize the milk. The quality of the milk before and after warming is the same.
3: Defrosting shrimp and fish:
How to do it:
Step 1: Take the shrimp and fish out of the freezer. Then, also place them in a pot with water. (Shrimp and fish must be kept in a zip bag, tightly sealed, with no air inside).
Step 2: Place the pot on the cooker, turn it on, select the defrost mode, and press the timer button. In about 10 minutes, the shrimp and fish will be defrosted.
Note: All food must be tightly sealed in a zip bag before proceeding to defrost. This way, the food will retain its freshness and not lose its nutrients.
